Queries
Thank you for your interest in WayWord Books. We have an open query policy and accept unagented queries.
Currently, we are looking for projects in the following categories:
- Literary Fiction
- Upmarket Fiction
- Mystery/Action
- Creative Nonfiction
- Nonfiction
- Memoir
At this time we are not accepting genre fiction (romance, fantasy, science fiction), self-help, textbooks, or children’s books.
Querying Process
At WayWord Books, we are on the lookout for exceptional writers and great books. If you would like us to consider your book project, here’s what to do in five easy steps:
- Complete your manuscript! Make sure your ms. is the best it can be before hitting the SEND button.
- Save your manuscript as a Word document, typed in 12-point, standard serif font, double-spaced, with page numbers. Include title and author in file name.
- Include a one-page cover letter with a brief description of your project and why you think WayWord Books should publish it. Tell us who your ideal readers are. (Hint: Do not say “everyone” for that is the kiss of death; be specific, the more specific the better.)
- Tell us about your publication history, especially the path to publication for the manuscript you’re sending. How many queries have you made? How long have you been working on this project? Has it won any awards?
- Please be patient. We will make every attempt to communicate in a timely manner. Rest assured, we respect your interest, time, and your talent.
