High Praise For Wayword Books and Nancy Murray’s “No Experience Necessary”

To the attention of WayWord Books,

Most of us struggle to maintain a healthy habit of reading (non-periodical) under the best of circumstances, even though the practice of reading literature has never been more important than it is right now when empathy and perspective seem in such short supply.  Determining where to put your reading energies is an additional hurdle, so most of us rely upon what’s got staying power on The NY Times best-seller list.  We rarely give ourselves the chance to delve into more local, less big-market/broad appeal works produced by equally creative people who haven’t been blessed by whatever alchemy of personal connections, sizable marketing budgets, and timely subject matter go into making a super-seller.  Wayword Books is bringing exactly the kind of below-the-radar literature into my home on a regular basis, and it’s fantastic.

In particular, I would like to commend your latest: Nancy Murray’s “No Experience Necessary” which I found to be a unique mixture of social commentary, real-world practical advice, and belly-laughter that pretty much had me smiling ruefully on the author’s behalf from the first page to the last.  What a great read.  What a useful message of resilience and faith in self.  Everything’s going to be OK, it’s just going to be really, really messy.  As a non-messy guy who spends his entire life fighting the forces of chaos, I found this liberating.

Keep up the good work.
